Omnibus Public Land Act

March 26th, 2009 by Tessa Sibbet

Earlier today, Congress passed the Omnibus Public Land Management Act, which was a huge victory for conservation and wilderness campaigns, as well as anyone who enjoys spending time in wild places. The bill “includes provisions to protect Wilderness and Wild and Scenic Rivers in nine states,” including three areas in California. The Sequoia-Kings National Forest, Eastern Sierra and Northern San Gabriel Mountains, and desert lands in Riverside County. You can read more about the Omnibus Act on the Conservation Alliance website.
