Family Adventure Weekend in American River Canyon

Outdoorsy families take note!  The volunteers at the American River Conservancy have put together another cool family outing that would make the perfect addition to a local vacation in California’s Sierra Foothills.  On September 27th, ARC will be leading a family bike ride into the Middle Fork of the American River canyon.  It’s an easy ride, but helmets and “geared” bikes are required.  They suggest bringing a picnic lunch to enjoy by the riverbank.  For more info on the bike ride contact Julie Andert at julie@arconservancy.org or call (530) 621-1224.

The 27th is the last day whitewater rafting trips will be available on the Middle Fork, but on Sunday the 28th, the South Fork American River will still be running strong.  Its class III rapids are perfect for families–exciting but not too intense for adventurous kids.  The weather in late September in these parts is typically warm but not too hot–just the thing for cozy campfires after a day of bike-riding or a family river rafting trip.   Many of our guests camp at Camp Lotus, just about a mile from our River Center.
