HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Posted January 3, 2011 by MalinaWe here at AO wish everyone a very happy new year indeed. From the looks of things (empty office, grey skies, freezing temps) it’s going to be a good one. Ok, so one of us is out on paternity leave (congrats Kevin and Gina!), but I have a feeling the ski slopes in Tahoe are part of the exodus, which is always a good sign. Reports from our contacts in the mountains (reliable ones like my father in law) indicate PILES AND PILES of snow! Huge drifts! Gargantuan dumps from one slope to the next! An ocean of white. We’ve already seen high flows from all the rain here on the South Fork of the American River.
As always it’s too early to do anything like predict what spring will bring us in the water department, but one thing I can say for sure is that this is one heck of a way to start the winter snowpack! High and deep, baby–a good sign for the rafting season to come!
